Dublin - Laurens Recreation Department

Staff EmailAdmin

Come in and check out our programs section for fall programs and registration information.

Welcome to the Dublin-Laurens County Recreation Authority home page.  The Recreation Authority is her to serve the  residents of Laurens County.

The Dublin-Laurens County Recreation Authority was created March 1, 1999 as a result State of Georgia Legislation HB 489; the Dublin-Laurens County Recreation Authority enabling Act. Consolidating the Laurens County Recreation Department and the City of Dublin Parks and Recreation was done to comply with House Bill 489 dealing with duplication of County services. Both the County and City Department had great past history and hopes were to combine the two Departments to form a countywide Recreation Department to provide improved facilities and address the growing recreational needs for the future.

On July 1, 1999 a groundbreaking ceremony was held at the site of Southern Pines Regional Park.  The park concept was derived from a comprehensive master plan developed by Lose and Associates in 1995.  On that day the County presented the deed for the Land and City of Dublin presented a check for $1.3 million to begin development of the Park.  The City of Dublin has also passed a 2cent hotel/motel tax (which allowed the Authority to borrow additional funds) to help continued the development of  the Park.  Also, many individuals, civic clubs and other organization have been involved in the  development of  the Park. Much has been at the Park but still a lot remains; it is a project in the works.  Several tournaments have been held to date but we hope that many, many more tournaments will be held over the years that will have a tremendous economic impact for our County and the local business people.

Again, the Recreation Authority is here to provide quality leisure service for the County.  The Recreation Authority Web Page will include registration forms, schedules, results of  games, telephone numbers and contact people plus any additional service we feel might be of benefit to citizens.  We hope to solicit your support and hope you'll offer opinions on ways we can meet you and your family needs.

The mission Statement for the Authority is:  "The Dublin-Laurens County Recreation authority will strive to develop, maintain and improve recreational facilities and services for the residents of Laurens County offering quality leisure opportunities and varied cultural programs in an atmosphere of consistently professional and personal services."
