As the new decade-2010 begins-we need to establish a better understanding of recreational coaches and parents responsibilities.
It seems that so many adverse situations are arising, we are putting our children in situations that they don't need to be involved in. Recreational sports are supposed to be a fun learning experience for our children. Winning and losing should not be an important part of recreational sports-it is more for socialization (getting along with children) and learning the basics of the sport to determine if they want to keep participating as they become older.
Parents and coaches are children's role models-all adults have to be mindful of their behavior in front of children. It is so important that adults consider their actions before arguments and confrontations are made publicly. Anyone employed by the Recreation Authority will be happy to consider your concerns-behind closed doors.
We all make mistakes-officials are 50% right and 50% wrong on all close calls. As employees of the Recreation Authority, we are all concerned that all children have a positive experience. Whether you believe it or not-all adults and their actions impact every event or activity that the Recreation Authority conducts. It is paramount that much stricter enforcement of our Zero Tolerance Policy is enacted.
The Zero Tolerance policy is listed below. If you have any questions please call me: Danny Jones 277-5060.
